cowbirds – polyphonic singing from Corsica & Sicily

Cowbirds is a project initiated in 2011 by Clélia Colonna. This idea was to gather performers from the contemporary Viennese scene and explore traditional forms of singing (monodic & polyphonic singing from Corsica & Sicily) with a performative, contemporary approach. Many forms and artistic collaborations emerged from this 5 year commun practice; performances (ImPulsTanz, tanzquartier wien, Im_flieger), festival and exhibition openings (Fondation Bayeler/Basel, Weltmuseum/Wien), Collaboration with the composer Peter Jakober*; the artists Paul Wenninger (Uncanny Valley), Elizabeth Bakambamba Tambwe *, Thomas Jelinek, Peter Kutin… and Nik Hummer for the recording of the album “polyphonic tracks” in 2017.
